Specialised training comes south

G’day all FMR Members,
Just informing you of an opportunity for extra coaching being offered to your child here, in town, in Margaret River.

For years now extra, specialised training has only been offered in Bunbury or Busselton on a regular basis. In acknowledgment of our strong club numbers Football West & their High Performance Centre (HPC) are now looking to open a term in this town.

Please follow the link below if you wish to register you expression of interest.

The Giant Awakes

All the hard work of the committees, coaches, parents and indeed the players over the passed months was launched into action on Saturday and what a glorious sight it was. The weather was cool and fine and the playing surface after recent works was looking carpet like. Locals and visitors were glad to finally kick the season off for 2010.

Some 450 players ran out 17 games across age divisions ranging from Under 6 to the Youth League boys and girls Under 17. Competition was tight with most games being fought out with scorelines at a goal the difference at the final whistle. The new look Jedi’s were unlucky to go down 1-0 in the YL girls but their local comrades, the Breakers, had a great win. The YL boys and Under 15s had convincing wins.

In the new 2 tier Under 13’s competition the Premier League team was unlucky to go down nervously by one goal but in the days final game it was the Under 13’s Championship League team, the Gladiators, that were most impressive with their come from behind draw with the final whistle the only thing stopping them from getting the win. Big congratulations to the Gladiators and I was particularly proud of the 3 young men who scored the goals in this fixture. Awesome game.

The Small Sided Games format taking in ages 6 through to 10 was a sight to behold with players and parents alike all smiles as the games rolled on with little time to take a breath. Again some tight scorelines resulted but, no, that’s right, “we don’t keep score in this format, do we? Or do we?”

Well done again to all committees, coaches, referees and the real entertainers, the players.

Players, coaches & parents please take note of the registrations of interest for High Performance Centre training trials that may be coming to Margaret River this term. Go to the website of Football Federation South West for more info or phone Neil Mattinson on 9757 1237.
